In 1969 the Vatican approached the family that owns this property to host the Pope's delegation ahead of his very first visit to Uganda. It is one of Uganda's first hotel that was officially launched by his highness the Aga Khan in 1971
In 1972, during Idi Amin's regime, it was taken over by the government during the economic war, then to serve as a military base. It was converted into Uganda's first Hotel and Tourism Institute between 1989 to 1991. When the family that owns it returned to Uganda in 1991, they did transform it into a 100 room hotel
An amazing job has been done to transform the hotel into a modern place that is very well located, 4KM from the city center and close to the Oasis and Garden City malls as well as being in walk-able distance to most restaurants in the area
